ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro – Dual Front Camera

With the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, the Taiwanese company is launching the third model of the ZenFone-4 series (consisting of a total of four devices). It is to see the reception that will have in the European market this smartphone with a dual front camera. After the presentation of the whole ZenFone-4 family, we had time to see for the first time the dual smartphone camera for fans of the selfies.ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro – Design and Finishing!

The Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro (with a thickness of only 7 millimeters) is among the thinnest smartphones on the market. And with its 145 grams is light for its size. The aluminum housing fits comfortably in hand and looks very stylish. The red model, above all, stands out against the monotony of current smartphone designs. The significant edges disappear above and below the screen. However, something that does not stick much with this modern aesthetic is the traditional micro-USB connector. At this point, it would have been better to have a USB-C port. All new ZenFones have a dual camera. In the case of Selfie Pro, the dual camera is not in the back, but ahead, just above the screen. On the back, Asus has opted for a normal camera that protrudes slightly from the case.

ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro – Screen! The screen of the Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro has a diagonal of 5.5 inches, and its panel AMOLED counts with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. A screen, thanks to its intense colors and color contrasts, I liked it. The brightness is more than enough; the angles of vision are exemplary. In ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, Asus eliminates frills like screens with rounded edges, and this is a good thing for this kind of thing only makes the price of the device increase without giving you any significant advantage.

ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro – Software!

Asus has already announced the Oreo update, although it has not yet been distributed. So whoever buys an Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, for the moment, will have to settle for Android 7.1 Nougat. ZenUI has been simplified in the current version. It only brings three applications preinstalled: Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram. The aesthetics of the system can be customized to suit everyone, as Asus offers a wide variety of topics, both free and paid.

ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro – Performance!

The ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro has at its service a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 eight-core processor. This mid-range chip performs smoothly in the everyday tasks of the smartphone and gives the face when it comes to games or websites overloaded. Applications open the first time almost instantaneously, and the user experience is smooth and smooth. The Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, which can be extended through a microSD card.

ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro – Camera!Unlike the other new models, Asus has not placed the dual camera of the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro in the back, but in the front. The standard lens has a 24-megapixel sensor, the extra wide-angle lens for group selfies captures images with up to 5 megapixels. With a lot of functions, Asus software tries to make these selfies even more beautiful. This can be useful from time to time, although it can also produce quite weird results when we go through touch-ups. The Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro will have to prove in-depth testing if it achieves the selfie perfect. On the back of this smartphone, we find a 16-megapixel camera.

ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro – Battery!

I was surprised by the battery of this Asus smartphone (which is not removable, by the way) taking into account its thickness. 3000 mAh is an intermediate value but should be enough for everyday use. The battery is charged in the “classic” style, i.e., via micro-USB instead of USB-C (more practical and technically superior).

MacroTraveller’s Verdict!

It is still too early to draw a definitive conclusion about the Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro. But in the first tests, this smartphone has liked, thanks to its elegant shape, excellent finish, and bright colors. A front camera with two lenses and a resolution of 24 megapixels is not, by any means, usual. Overall it’s the best phone in this price range.
