Honor 7X Review: New Mid-Range Smartphone King

Honor has just taken out of the hat a new smartphone, the Honor 7X. The successor of the smartphone with smart price, the Honor 6X. The manufacturer is well known for bringing fascinating features to the mid-range with very low prices. On this occasion, the Honor 7X brings us the fashion screen 18: 9 format and very thin frames. Here you have all the details and first impression.Honor 7X Specifications: 5.93-inch FHD+ display (2160 x 1080 pixels) | Kirin 650 octa-core processor | 4GB RAM +64GB storage (expandable)| 16MP+2MP rear camera with PDAF and 8MP front camera | 3340 mAh battery | Android Nougat 7.0 with EMUI

Honor 7X price in India: Rs 12,999 for 4GB RAM +32GB /Rs 15,999 for 4GB RAM + 64GB storage

Honor 7X – Design and Finishing!

The design of the Honor 7X seems very familiar when I look at the other devices of Honor, Huawei, and other Chinese brands. Its unibody body is forged in 7.6-millimeter thick aluminum. At the back slightly protrudes a double camera, the fingerprint sensor is centered and slightly sunken and two perfectly integrated strips are observed to improve the connectivity of the antennas. The front is dominated by the screen, which occupies more than 83% of the total area. A detail not very consistent with the rest of the devices is that Honor has left the 7X without USB port type C. So, users should live with the well-known micro USB and its disadvantages. The Honor 7X is available in black and dark blue.

According to the manufacturer, the corners of the Honor 7X are specially protected against damage and falls, without affecting the internal components. I have to wait a little longer for a final analysis and verify that this provides more security for everyday use.

Honor 7X – Screen!

The Honor 7X screen has a ratio of 18: 9, leaving a somewhat longer resolution of Full HD with 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. This format begins to be the standard in high-end devices and is gradually being introduced also in the mid-range. With a screen diagonal of 5.93 inches, the density of points we obtain is 407 dpi. Its panel with IPS technology is quite nice, but it is somewhat behind Huawei devices, something more expensive.

Honor 7X – Software!

Honor delivers the 7X with Android 7.0 Nougat series. Unfortunately, take out a new device with the penultimate version of Android a practice very common among manufacturers. Anyway, it is expected to be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo, which was released months ago. The Huawei EMUI interface, therefore, comes in its highly versatile and customizable version 5.1.

Honor 7X – Performance!

Under the hood of the Honor 7X, I found a Hisilicon Kirin 659 processor, a house brand as usual. This octa-core processor can operate up to a clock speed of 2.3 GHz. To feed data, it has 4 GB of RAM. That is more than enough to leave us a good sense of speed in the first contact. The Honor 7X executes its operating system without problems and shows no delays. It remains to be seen if he is capable of enduring challenging tasks. For internal memory, we have 64 GB, which means a lot of space for applications, photos, music, and movies. If you need more, you can insert a microSD memory card or a second nano-SIM card.

Honor 7X – Audio!

The Honor 7X sound is not made for exquisite ears that I say, at least when it comes to the main speaker. I found a small mono speaker on the bottom of the phone that is not very promising. At least Honor does not renounce the minijack headphone jack.

Honor 7X – Camera!

The double camera on the back of the Honor 7X is unmistakable. It has two 16 megapixel sensors, which allow you to do tricks like a bokeh effect. It does not support to record video in a resolution 4K, at most we have Full HD. The front camera has an 8-megapixel sensor.

Honor 7X – Battery!

With its 3,340 mAh battery, the Honor 7X should easily survive one or even two days without going through the charger. However, there is no trace of fast charging technology or wireless charging by induction on the device.

The Honor 7X leaves a very decent first impression. The design is not very striking, but it is functional, the big screen is a gift for the eye and the equipment, in general, is quite complete. The price is correct, the Honor 7X has a very reasonable price-quality ratio. Honor 7X’s advantage right now is the big display and the excellent dual-rear cameras at a price of Rs 12,999. The display in special is awe-inspiring on this smartphone. The negatives though are the older OS, micro-USB port.
