How to plan a travel to Pattaya

Pattaya is one of the most famous destinations in Thailand after its capital city, Bangkok. People who visit Thailand will not miss Pattaya as it will be on the list to visit once they land at the airport. Some people might have planned to visit way before they have booked a train or bus ticket to Bangkok.

Pattaya is one city where you can notice its hustle during evenings and late evenings. Located near to the beach, Pattaya is famous for a beach adventure, exploration of the city and jewellery factory present here.

There are many ways to travel to Pattaya:

By Air: The nearest airport to Pattaya city is U-Tapao International Airport (UTP). It is located in Rayong and serves to cities of Rayong and Pattaya. It is located around 50kms from Pattaya where there are many flights from India. Although there are no direct flights from India this offers a place to de-board and take a bus or taxi to Pattaya city. The official name of U-Tapao international airport is U-Tapao Rayong Pattaya International Airport. This is a civil-military airport and is home to Royal Thai Navy, Air Wing.

By Train: You can take a train service from Bangkok to Pattaya if you want to stay within budget, however, the travel time will be more. There is only 1 train departing to Pattaya everyday so be at the Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong station early. The train departs at 06:55 am every day and pre-booking is not available. You have the option to purchase first, second and third-class train tickets to Pattaya. Pattaya has 2 railway stations namely the main Pattaya Train Station and Pattaya Tai Train Station. So plan your departure destination with prior research on where you are accommodating in Pattaya.

By Bus: One of the popular, clean and fast trip to Pattaya can be undertaken by taking Bus from Bangkok to Pattaya. Many buses are plying in this route and the buses would be clean, comfortable and are air-conditioned. Bus stations in Bangkok include Eastern, Northern and Southern Bus Terminals respectively. If you are planning to go to Pattaya after landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport then there is a bus stop located on floor 1 of the arrival section. You can buy first, second and third-class bus tickets where second class, third class ticket bus takes multiple stops during the trip. A typical ride from Bangkok to Pattaya takes around 2hours but it depends on the traffic and certain delays.

By Taxi: If you want quick travel, privacy and are ready to shell out some amount extra, do choose a taxi that plies from Bangkok to Pattaya. Offering door-to-door pickups, taxis are a convenient way to travel if you have huge luggage. If you want to travel directly from Suvarnabhumi Airport, you can choose the taxis available at the Arrival gates of the airport. A taxi ride from the airport generally costs less as it is nearby to Pattaya city compared to the city of Bangkok. Before boarding Taxi do check the licence, typical Airport Taxi drivers would have Official Airport of Thailand certificate and the car should be less than 5 years old. If the driver does not meet the criteria, kindly ignore and choose a different taxi.
