ITC Windsor, an iconic hotel with a legacy of over 30 years, based on the theme of Republic day this year that has heads of state of 10 ASEAN countries as the chief guests at the Republic Day parade on January 26 2018. To celebrate this, The Raj Pavilion at the ITC Windsor is showcasing ‘Look East’ food promotion till January 26.

The buffet will serve popular dishes from each country in this region. The man responsible for bringing this magnificent food festival together – Uchit Vohra, Executive Chef at ITC Windsor – says that they have tried to keep the traditional flavors intact, without experimenting too much, and concentrating on using fresh, natural products.

The Ten ASEAN nations whose heads of state will review the 26th January Republic day parade are: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, and Brunei.

Some of the dishes featured are Soy Chicken with Rice Noodles from Singapore, Nasi Leman from Malaysia, Massaman Lamb Curry from Thailand, Tofu and Stir Fried Mushroom in Hoisin Sauce from Vietnam, Nasi Goreng from Indonesia, Khao Suey from Myanmar and Sia Pao from the Philippines to name a few.

Highlights from the ‘Look-East’ Food Festival

Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls with Chilli Plum Sauce

Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls were packed with bright, fresh flavors and served with a crazily addictive Vietnamese Chilli Plum Sauce. Dressings and sauces are refreshingly light and devoid of oil. But generally, most Vietnamese dishes are super fresh, full of bright flavors, loaded with herbs and salads, with just a bit of protein.

Myanmar, Khow Suey

Khow Suey is a one-pot meal with noodles and veggies cooked in coconut milk and decorated with peanuts and fried garlic. This is another dish which is loved worldwide because of its strong flavors.

Indonesian Vegetable Satay

Originating in Indonesia and making its way across South East Asia, satay is a popular dish across all borders. Typically served on skewers with a spicy dipping sauce! These flavorful chunks can be served on toothpicks as an appetizer, threaded on skewers and broiled for the main course and served on rice.

Thai Green Veg Curry with Steamed Rice

Thai Green curry is one of the famous and delicious curries in Thailand, and it gets its name from the color of the dish. Flavourful Thai curry with fresh vegetables, holy basil, kaffir lime, galangal, served with steamed rice, thai ginger and lemongrass served with steamed rice. An aromatic, hearty, smooth curry with a medley of vegetables and creamy coconut milk with herbs makes for the heartiest meal ever.

Thailand- Thapthim Krop

Thaithim Krop is one the most popular Thai desserts, which is made of ice cubes chestnuts in syrup. This dessert is known as “pomegranate seeds” because of its appearance. It is typically eaten with coconut milk and ice cubes. There cannot be a better dessert than this to conclude your meal.
