The room was very spacious, although with the hotel being ten years old, the decor was a little tired. The King-Size bed was very comfortable and linen outstanding, great bathroom size with large shower and separate full-size bath.#MacroTravellerTips: Power plugs that would accept any country is a plus (I always leave my converter at home!).
TV – A large (brand new) 42″ LCD Samsung, with many movie channels, two dedicated cricket channels, and of course the usual global news channels. Internet – A very fast connection it was much more rapidly. Gym – On the smaller side, 3-4 treadmills, free weights, and a few other machines!
Pool – Didn’t go for a splash, but it was a lovely outdoor setting, and as it was elevated it was above the street hustle and bustle.Bar – A Brilliant lounge type bar, had a few beers on tap as well as extensive selection of imported bottled beer.
The food is possibly one of the highlights of this hotel. ITC Maratha features five restaurants – I tried most of them including the Trip Advisor #1 rated Mumbai Restaurant. “Peshawari” – Cuisine from the North & South of India, Asian, Western and the 24×7 cafe which does anything and everything. For foreigners, food can be a significant source of stomach upsets in India, and I didn’t get sick once on my last trip. The breakfast deserves a review on its own – was exceptional. Indian, Asian, Western options were available to every extreme. On the breakfast of the west the usual eggs, bacon, etc. were enjoyable. However, there was even a ‘design your muesli’ station, where you could select dried/fresh fruits, nuts, oats, bran, yogurts and a kitchen aid would mix it all together for you – a neat touch.
An example of the extraordinary service was the breakfast chef. Each day after our lunch he would come over to ask how everything was, did we relish food, etc. and it wasn’t because he told to – he was genuinely interested in what we had to say.
