#macrotraveller was invited to be part of Sabah Tourism where we were excited to cover the beautiful city of Kota Kinabalu and other tourist attraction places. This 2-day excursion was exciting and learning experience filled with adventure and travel. On Day 1 we were taken to Sepanggar Island which is located near to the city.

Sepanggar Island is an Island located Sepanggar, Sabah which is easily spotted from the city centre. This Island has 2 main peaks and has thick tropical rainforest. This place has no permanent settlement however a small fishing community stay near eastern shore . The Island is only accessible by jetty from the city centre and this place is known as one where many World War II bombs have been found. On Day 1 of our trip, we were taken to this Island from Jesselton Point Jetty which is situated in Kota Kinabalu and the distance was a mere 10 minute Jetty ride. This Island has one of best tropical climate along with white sand beaches and a beautiful view of Gaya Bay and Kota Kinabalu city. This Island is an ultimate paradise where you can go scuba diving, snorkelling, take a walk up the hill passing through the rainforest or simply lay on the sand and enjoy the sound of ocean waves hitting the shoreline.

Upon entering the Island we were greeted by the tourism board and we got ready to go Snorkeling. We enjoyed our stay enjoying what the beach and Sepanggar Island has to offer. During snorkelling, we saw many aquatic creatures which are present in the ocean and wondered the beauty of nature. With its beautiful coastline along with white sand, we did have a gala time resting under the sun and enjoying the beautiful coasts of Sepanggar island. After the visit to Island, we came back to Kota Kinabalu city to enjoy what the city offers you at the night time.

After our beautiful stay at Sepanggar Island, we came back to Kota Kinabalu and we visited Pink Mosque. Pink Mosque in Kota Kinabalu is the second important mosque which has traditional Arabic architecture. Opened in the year 2000, this mosque is situated near Pasir Road facing the South China Sea. Pink Mosque features ATM, 3 Madrasas and a clinic which is under joint project from Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The Mosque can be visited by non-Muslims every day except during prayers and we recommend wearing decent clothes before entering the mosque.

After our short visit to the beautiful Pink Mosque, we were guided to ATV and Dirt Track riding at Nanamun Beach. This was adventurous as we rode ATV and Dirt bike on a long stretch of Nanamun Beach and Mangrove Area. Located just 2-hour drive from Kota Kinabalu, Nanamun beach has an ATV ride tour which is must experience if you visit Sabah. After the ATV and Dirt Bike experience, we were set off to the mystical night cruise along Nanamun river where it is out of the world experience when you notice the swarm of fireflies lit up the night sky alongside the river. This photogenic experience from nature is a must to do experience and words can’t be described but can only be experienced what nature has to offer.

After our fun-filled Day 1 at Kota Kinabalu, we were excited to know what Day 2 offers during our stay at the beautiful state of Sabah.
