Udhagamandalam or Ooty, the capital of the Nilgiri district, is popularly known as the Queen of Hill Stations among the tourist circuits. This picturesque destination has spectacular attractions in its sleeves. Botanical Garden: It is a garden of great beauty established in the year 1847. Extending on an area of 22 hectares, the garden is located at the height of about 2,400 m. The garden houses a variety of trees, including rare species such as cork oak, bark paper tree and Pehuen and a variety of flowering shrubs, ferns and orchids. There is also a 20 million-year-old fossilized tree in the garden. A ‘Flower Show’ is held in the month of May each year.

Kalhatty Falls: The Kalhatty Falls do lie on the slopes of Kalhatty a UNOS 13km from Udhagamandalam in the Udhagamandalam – Mysore Kalhatty road. Also known as the “Niagara Kalahasti” here the water cascades a height of 122m.
