Design and Build
Elegant becomes the impression we found when first seeing Oppo F7, thanks to the shiny material that dominates the body, especially in the back. Using plastic materials instead of metal like the previous product, Oppo F7 can present a light impression when the smartphone is gripped with one hand.
In addition to the back, the elegant impression is also presented by the front which is dominated by the screen and carrying the design of the bangs is now a trend. Smaller when compared to similar design products, Oppo F7 bangs can accommodate some components, such as speakerphone, front camera, and many sensors.
Oppo F7 is also present with a minimal design of physical buttons, only armed with the power button on the right side and the volume of the volume on the left side. For the SIM slot and external memory card, you can find it on the right side, located above the power button. Meanwhile, the upper side of the F7 body is left clean without the 3.5 mm audio jack insert found on the underside, accompanying the Type-A USB port and the speakers.
A tiny notch on the top of the screen houses a 25 MP Selfie camera, earpiece, and sensor. But, it lacks a notification light. This isn’t a big problem, but few people do love it. The speaker is quite loud and sharp. For the rear, Oppo pinned the fingerprint scanner sensor in the top center, as well as one camera in the upper-right corner area accompanied by a flash.
Software & Interface
Oppo F7 is already using the Android operating system 8.0 Oreo, which is coated with the user interface Oppo ColorOS 5. This user interface displays a slightly larger icon when compared to other devices with the same operating system. The presence of application icons slightly larger in line with the full screen that carried this Oppo F7. Besides, this user interface is also equipped with a number of changes and gestures, one of which is to support the full-screen experience that is one of the leading factors of this smartphone.
One of these gesture settings allows you to change how to navigate the three main menu buttons. The present settings option lets you hide buttons and replace them with gesture options such as sweep upwards in certain sections to replace key functions.
Supporting experience while enjoying content on the big screen without worrying about the trimmed viewer room space, you will need time to be able to memorize and get used to using gestures. Besides, this device is also supported Multitasking feature, called Oppo as App-in-App. This feature is different from the split-screen model which the previous device brings, lets you access and interact in instant messaging apps while viewing multimedia content like YouTube or Netflix, without forcing the display of content to be reduced from one full screen to half the screen.
In other words, the instant messaging app will appear hovering over the multimedia content being watched, so you do not have to get out of the content to be able to reply to messages and interact with instant messaging apps. In addition to fingerprint scanner sensor, Oppo F7 also armed with Face Unlock security features, which helped Artificial Intelligence technology.
Camera & Video
Not only the front camera, but Oppo F7 also favor the rear camera that is also supported by technology Artificial Intelligence (AI). The presence of this technology allows the camera to present the images with a touch of more natural beautify features. In addition to detecting faces for the Beautify feature, the AI technology on the Oppo F7 rear camera is also capable of detecting photo objects like food, people, beach, sky, and other scenes, then adjusting to brightness, color contrast and more to display good photos with a natural look.
Uniquely, the AI technology in Oppo F7 camera can detect and recognize the gender of objects captured by the camera, thus displaying the images with the right adjustments. Although not carrying a dual camera on the rear camera, Oppo F7 still able to produce images with bokeh effects.
You can also enable and disable these effects through settings at the top of the camera application screen. Oppo also features HDR and brighter or vivid color effects, which can also be accessed at the top of the camera app screen and can be activated simultaneously.
To increase the pleasure of selfie lovers, Oppo also equips filter feature contains funny pictures, which can be applied to the front camera and rear camera. Interestingly, thanks to AI technology support, these funny filters can be used to all objects with faces detected by the camera.
For performance matters, the stock of MediaTek Helio P60 processor on Oppo F7 allows it to deliver a user experience without much interruption of lag, during testing this smartphone. Substitution of one application to another application is also displayed without any significant problems. Although used with working conditions, the body behind the Oppo F7 still feels cool, thanks to plastic materials that wrap the body. Experience playing the game on this smartphone is also quite fun, visible from the picture with sharp detail and function without lag disturbance during the game Asphalt 8: Airborne.
The pleasure of playing this game is increasingly supported thanks to the use of a full screen. Unfortunately, sometimes this screen is less responsive. MediaTek Helio P60, combined with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space, also allows for good scores on test results via benchmark apps.
Questioning the battery, Oppo equipped F7 with 3,400 mAh, which can survive for long periods of time when used in everyday life. On daily activities with active use conditions through WhatsApp applications, Google Maps, cameras, and more, Oppo F7 can last for about eight to nine hours.
However, it took me around 2.5 hours to fully charge from 0 to 100%. This is because which it lacks fast charging support.
Overall, the experience of using the Oppo F7 is fun, mainly thanks to AI technology support that automatically applies the look better, both on the front camera and on the rear camera, and support some features such as AI, HDR, and Vivid on the camera that can be activated simultaneously.
Not only that, but Full-Screen screen support also adds to the fun while using the phone, especially when used to watch video content or play the game. The screen is several times less responsive, though not when using game apps or other meaningful activities, so as not to interfere with playing games.
