InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort combines world-class luxury with a renascent Coromandel style, located within proximity to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Mahabalipuram. Smart hospitality meets contemporary comforts and conveniences in a 21st Century setting – a synchrony that reverberates proudly along the many-pillared hallways and corridors of the Resort. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be pampered by the InterContinental’s unobtrusive service and unparalleled amenities.#MacroTraveller was delighted to have a suite room for himself at InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort, and oh boy, I was excited. The place was enormous and overlooking the sea. A perfect getaway for people who would want Luxury experiences with culture, history, and heritage all in one. Suite rooms were on the upper level, modern & breathtaking. They were facing the gardens, and one can also see the beach at a distance. It had a living room with a private balcony (beautiful views), bedroom and a shower + toilet + separate bathtub area near the basin. Comfy pillows and bed, 2 LED TVs with a lot of channel options, Nespresso tea/coffee machine, welcome fruits, chocolates and beach slippers, etc. were appreciated. Lots of excellent gadgets electrical fittings but I felt some of them could be very confusing to understand/operate. The room’s ceiling is high, and that adds to the grandeur. The lighting, ambiance and the amenities were top notch. Toiletries were of very high standard. The bathtub was huge and extremely comfortable.
Coming to the Food: Breakfast and restaurants were excellent. They have a lovely breakfast buffet. The breakfast spread was grand and fantastic. I could say best food I have eaten in a beach resort hotel in India. I tried Tao of Peng and The Melting Pot, I loved Melting pot better than Tao of Peng, be it Food category, Taste or Value. The Melting Pot only seems to serve buffet style meals. The Gatsby lounge was an exceptional space to relax, and the decor was attractive. Tao of Peng is a Chinese restaurant in InterContinential Chennai that offers some innovative dishes like dim sum art and dessert art which is like a painting on a canvas with food. Just leave the choice to the chef, and he brings out a feast fit for a king.
The hotel has a lovely swimming pool and a well-equipped gym. The beach is excellent for lazing or for a walk in the morning or the evening. Beach decks, lounge chairs, umbrellas, and small shelters are there for relaxing in the sun. Drink and snack service were provided. They have excellent amenities from swimming pool, tennis court to indoor games to kids zone and excellent restaurants. They also offer sundowners on weekends and that’s the best one could enjoy drinks on the shore with unlimited grills and music on the background.
A visit to The Amrtam Spa is highly recommended. I think, officially 2017 is the year where I had maximum spa treatments done, 15 of them if I’m not wrong 😉 and I would rate InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort experience at top 5 till date! 🙂 The SPA is extraordinary – run by expert therapists- I tried the massages and found them to be incredibly relaxing. This is a must do at this hotel!
If you want a fiesta with lazy mornings, peaceful evenings and strolls according to mood, this is the right place. The entire property is private and well lit for romantic strolls along tree-lined paths to the beach. A must visit – and of course, the heritage Mahabalipuram structures are only 20 minutes’ drive.
Thanks a lot to the team for your care and hospitality. It has been an enjoyable stay at the beautiful place. The service and staff were at best. The food was awesome. #MacroTraveller highly recommends InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort! MacroTraveller loves to visit you all again and again!
