Seven reasons why you should travel alone, at least once in your life

The general belief is that when organizing a trip, friends are indispensable, planning begins months earlier and activities like backpacking are more entertaining when done in a group. For MacroTraveller this is not so, here are your seven reasons why you should travel alone at least once in your life. You dare?

1. You will meet wonderful people!
Although traveling with friends or another relevant person can be great fun, traveling alone can prove to be one of the most rewarding things because of the people you will meet. When traveling with a group of friends or with a partner, you tend to stick to that small circle of familiar faces and interactions with new ones will not be as deep.

2. The overwhelming sense of absolute freedom!

When you travel alone and start meeting new people you can end up changing your plans, more if you heard of a beautiful waterfall, an incredible desert beach, the opportunity to jump on bungee or taste excellent foods that you will only find out of your way. You do not have to give explanations to anyone, you can follow your rhythm and your desires will move you like the wind.

3. Travel alone defies your fears and insecurities!

This is an important reason; especially if it is the first time you travel alone. Safety can be a great comfort, but common sense is the key. You must read and do the research before you travel – check the reviews on the hostels and feedback from other travelers on forums & blogs. Respect the local culture and I guarantee that you will be well.

4.Fall in love!

We all long to find our half-orange and we talk a lot of failed relationships along the way. But it does not have to be like that! We find love when we meet people who share our same interests, dreams, and goals. No one knows if it will be a great summer love or the person you will bring to the altar, but there are many people out there with incredible stories to share. If you already have a partner, this time out can increase the passion and once you return you will appreciate much more the company of the other.

5. You will have the time to feed yourself!

If you have a stressful life, whether studying or working too much, traveling on your own may be the time to take a break and feed yourself. Enjoy all the lovely things that a new place can give you and understand that happiness is a birthright, not a privilege.

6. You will have the opportunity to reinvent yourself and be who you want to be!

While traveling, you can only leave your grumpy side and start being a new you. Explore part of your personality that you are not comfortable with. While you’re on the road, you can be challenged by unexpected factors and be amazed at how well you respond to them.

  1. You can have time to leave everything behind!

Just disengage for a while from the real world. Turn off your cell phone, “forget” to check your email for a few days, and do not think about accounts, responsibilities, duties, and problems. One of the most creative and intense moments to solve our problems is when we disconnect. Sometimes our brain needs to rest to get rid of old thoughts and let in new ones.
