UberBOAT Speedboat Service launched in Mumbai | #MacroTraveller

Uber, the world’s largest ridesharing company, has announced a pilot launch of its new UberBOAT service in Mumbai, in partnership with Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB). India is only the second country, after Croatia, to get the UberBOAT service. Uber’s is thinking to transform a multi-modal transit platform in India. The uber’s new on-demand speed boat service will facilitate customers to use waterways as a mode of transportation from the city’s famous coastal routes namely Gateway of India, Mandwa (near Alibaug), and Elephanta Islands.

Ready, Steady and Sail with UberBOAT!

The service was meant to start on 1 February but now has been delayed. The speedboat service can be booked through the Uber app. This makes it likely the first, indeed the most convenient, app-based speedboat hire service in India. Passengers can call two variants of speedboats based on seating capacity: a six- or eight-seater UberBOAT and a 10-seater UberBOAT XL. These rides will cost Rs 5,700 for UberBOAT and Rs 9,500 for BOAT XL, for all the active routes. According to the references – Passengers will be able to book either a seat or the entire speedboat 15 minutes before boarding.
