Vivo has unveiled its next flagship in India, the Vivo Nex on Thursday and the device goes on sale from July 21 with specifications matching the best in the business. The exciting part is this device is a reworked one of the Vivo Nex S that was launched by the company just last month.
“The Vivo NEX smartphones are being manufactured at the company’s facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh,” Nipun Marya, Head of Marketing Strategy, Vivo India.
First, the specifications of the new Vivo Nex: The display on this phone is 6.59 inches, and practically the whole screen is available for the full HD+ Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio as high as 19.3:9. The screen resolution reads 1080x2316pixels.
The processor is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845SoC. The Vivo Nex has a RAM of 8GB and the storage 128GB. This storage cannot be enhanced beyond this. There is no other variant of the phone being offered here. In fact, Vivo has another phone, the Vivo Nex A which it has launched in China but has not brought to India so far. As far as the OS is concerned, the Android Oreo version 8.1 with the in-house UI Funtouch OS version 4.0 will run the device.
In the connectivity department, the phone has dual-SIM 4G VoLTE capabilities, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, and USB 2.0 type-C port with fast charging. However, there is no NFC or FM radio on the smartphone. A massive 4,000 mAh battery will power the device. The Vivo NEX smartphone will be available in only one color option, Diamond Black.
The phone has an incredible “cooling system” that will keep the phone cool even during long sessions of usage. The cooling feature will attract hardcore gamers who could play long sessions of games. It is the first phone with that has in-display fingerprint scanning.
In terms of camera, the smartphone supports dual rear camera set-up with 12MP+5MP sensors, 4-Axis OIS, slow motion, backlight HDR, live photo, portrait bokeh (dual cameras), panorama, time lapse, AR stickers, and filters. On the front, we see an 8 MP pop-up front-facing camera, which when started, will make a sound to notify the user. This pop-up camera will sit on the top left of the display.
Vivo NEX is also packed with Hi-Fi audio technology, three amplifiers, and a DAC and also an OLED panel which serves as an earpiece. The full suite of connectivity options and a physical 3.5mm jack for audio-out are also on board.
The new Vivo Nex can be purchased at Rs 44,990 in India. Amazon has already started taking bookings, and the sale goes live, as indicated, from July 21. Apart from Amazon, the phone can be bought from Vivo’s site online and its offline retail outlets. There are some launch-time offers which the early birds could capitalize on.
